Washington D.C. Travel Highlights
The government might be closed, but the fun in D.C. is still in session — here’s. your insider guide to exploiting the capital during the shutdown.
We are just coming off of a fabulous Fall Break to the beautiful Washington D.C. and while our plans changed quite a bit due to the government shut down, we made the most of our visit and truly explored everything else DC had to offer.
Day 1
Upon our arrival we took a walk to the Washington Monument and were very fortunate to see Marine One landing. That evening we had a wonderful dinner at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab which truly feels like an institution.
Day 2
The second day we woke up and went to the Air and Space Museum which had a great combination of old aircrafts and fascinating history. Thankfully all of the Smithsonian’s were still open the week we were there. One of the shining stars of that museum was the original Wright Brothers airplane which was truly a sight to see.
The next stop was the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Our children really enjoyed the gems and minerals exhibit along with the mammals.
We had an early dinner at the Old Ebbitt Grill, which felt like another institution and I was quite surprised with its vast menu and delicious food. They were also extremely accommodating to food allergies which I always appreciate!
We met our tour guide at 6:30 pm and began our Evening Monument tour which started at the World War II Memorial as the sun was setting. I highly recommend this as it was breathtaking! We ventured over to the Jefferson Monument which was also beautiful in the glow of the moon rising. From there we went to the Iwo Jima memorial which I also recommend seeing at night. The next stop was the Albert Einstein monument which children are not only allowed, but encouraged to climb on and rub Einstein’s nose for wisdom. Our next stop was the Vietnam Memorial. From there we went to the Lincoln Memorial (my personal favorite) that when backlit feels so majestic. A fun fact to look for is on the panel of the speech to the right of Lincoln, there is one mistake in the etching in the limestone. The F in “Future” was originally carved as an “E.” The Korean War Memorial was last and gave a somewhat spooky effect at night as one of the 19 statues is always looking at you from every angle as you walk along. It is a touching reverence of the lives lost and I think especially significant that so much space is dedicated to the brave men and women that lost their lives for our country. We ended the tour by walking along the steps of the Capitol and got to see where the Presidential Innaguration takes place. To see the dome of the Capital lit up at night is a sight one will never forget.
Day 3
The next morning we started early with a trip to Mt. Vernon to see the home of George and Martha Washington. It was truly a step back in time for our children to see how people lived back in the 1700’s. They were most impressed how self reliant they were back then with their own blacksmith, cobbler, seamstress, farm, orchard. The thing we all liked most is that the view is the original view thanks to the women of the “”Association who purchased all the land on the other side of the Potomac to preserve the original view that George and Martha would sit and enjoy all those years ago.
From there we continued on to Arlington for a very somber, but important remembrance of our service men and women. Our children particularly enjoyed the changing of the guard ceremony and were shocked to know that happens 24/7 since 1930’s. The eternal flame of JFK was also a beautiful sight to see.
JFK Grave Arlington
That evening we had cocktails at the Waldorf Astoria and a perfect dinner at The Capital Grille. Another institution with delicious food and definitely a political scene.
Day 4
Since we couldn’t visit the White House, we were told to visit the People’s House which is a fabulous option with children and a great reproduction of the White House. The photo ops at the “Resolute Desk” are worth it in and of itself!
We then went to the Smithsonian Museum of American History which has an impressive collection of the early things that have made this country what it is. From early transportation options, to American Innovation, the First Ladies dress and china collections and the original US flags.
We moved hotels from downtown DC over to Georgetown and absolutely loved the Townhouse style residences of our Exclusive Resorts place at the Rosewood. It was incredibly charming and very functional! I also love a hotel with a great bathroom including Dyson hairdryers and an abundance of towels.
That evening we got dressed up and went to Filomena Ristorante which came highly recommended for the home style Italian cuisine and over the top Halloween decorations! Our children loved it! We then went to the Kennedy Center to watch the Stuttgart Ballet perform Onegin! I’d be lying if I don’t admit that the highlights of the Kennedy Center were going up top to take photos before the show began as well as the interactive photo booths in the Kennedy exhibit. The theater was beautiful and the experience very memorable!
Day 5
Thursday began with a VIP tour of the Museum of the Bible! One of our biggest hits of the whole trip! This museum is the most spectacular museum we have ever seen. The building itself is a modern marvel of architecture and technology combined and the artifacts dating back to BC is remarkable. The 7 floors would take 10 days to explore, but we did two floors in just under 3 hours and it really kept the children’s attention. Especially the 3rd floor where they and great reenactment videos and experience of the Old and New Testament as well as an old recreated village with actors that don’t even know what phones are! Our children got a kick out of that part and eve requested to go back once more before we left. This might be one of the best kept secrets of Washington DC and I’m so grateful that we went. They also have a great cafe called Manna on the 6th floor to grab a bite to eat at afterwards. From there we went to the Spy Museum, which our children greatly enjoyed. They do a fantastic job of creating an enhancing experience complete with assigning you your own Spy name, secret word and ongoing facts and clues that keep you going throughout your visit. It was t my person favorite, but I can see why our chicken enjoyed it so much. Lots of great equipment, such as the underwater kayaks used by spies. My middle son’s favorite thing there!
We then went back over to Georgetown to our new favorite coffee shop, Tatte Bakery (try the pistachio oat milk latte!) and walked around Gerogetown’s campus. Now that we have a 7th grader, we always take the time to explore at least one college campus when we are in a new city. The “” building was quite spectacular! We stopped at Georgetown Cupcake as suggested by a friend and loved the Halloween energy that bustles throughout the town! That evening we had cocktails with friends at the Rooftop of the Rosewood called CUT Above which had spectacular views of the Potomac and landing aircraft’s for any air aficionados. Our dinner was at the highly recommended Café Milano which was just as fabulous for the food as the see and be seen culture! Probably our favorite restaurant of the trip!
Day 6
Friday started off with a tour of the Burea of Engraving and Printing, where they make our United States currency. It was a fascinating behind the scenes look at what goes into making our US dollars. We witnessed the $100 billion being printed and it is a site to see, but obviously no pictures allowed. The neatest thing is that you can actually purchase large sheets of dollar bill in different denominations. We purchased a sheet of 32 $2 bills as well as $5’ and $10’s. Fun fact that you can cut the money yourself and use it, but most frame it as a keepsake.
We did one last walk around the Washington Monument and the Mall looking towards the Lincoln Monument before heading to the National Cathedral. It almost looks like the Notre Dame in Washington DC. This church is absolutely stunning and while you must pay an entry fee for a self guided tour, they provide a fun scavenger hunt for the children that kept mine entertained! I think it’s a must see! From there we went to the Smithsonian Zoo to see the Panda’s and it ended up being such a highlight! The two pandas were out and active and it was a very clean and well thought out space. It’s the first Zoo I’ve ever been to that charges no admission! If you have the time, I highly recommend, especially if traveling with young children to break things up a bit. That evening we had dinner at Fiola Mare, an elegant seafood restaurant on the water overlooking the Kennedy Center. If you are a fan of Lobster Ravioli, this chef got a Michelin star at his original restaurant for this dish, and tweaked it a bit for this new concept. We ended the evening with an after dinner drink at the rooftop at the Rosewood and reminisced on all of our favorite things we did. Obviously we will be back to visit the White House and Capitol which we were not able to do this trip due to the shutdown, and we look forward to that occasion!

A Dior Dream: The Creation of Madison’s Dress
Madison’s birthday is a celebration of timeless elegance, inspired by the artistry of Christian Dior. Her exquisite blush pink gown, adorned with delicate smocking and rosebud embroidery, embodies the maison’s dedication to femininity and grace. As we anticipate her Parisian-inspired soirée, this couture creation offers a glimpse into the enchanting world of Dior—where beauty, fashion, and tradition intertwine. Stay tuned for a breathtaking reveal!
For the past three years, we have had the incredible honor of collaborating on a special birthday dress with our favorite Parisian Atelier, Charlotte Sy Dimby. Madison’s birthday dress is more than just an article of clothing, it is a statement of timeless elegance, artistry, and couture craftsmanship. This year, her dress and party pay homage to the legendary house of Christian Dior, encapsulating the maison’s signature blend of femininity, romance, and refinement. From the delicate details to the sophisticated ambiance of the event, each element reflects the unparalleled beauty and savoir-faire that define Dior.
The Art of Madison’s Dress
This year the dress is a poetic interpretation of haute couture, inspired by the ethereal beauty that Dior so masterfully evokes. The delicate blush pink hue whispers of the soft roses that flourished in the gardens of Monsieur Dior’s beloved childhood home in Granville, Normandy, a place that shaped his aesthetic vision. This gentle color, reminiscent of the softest petals, exudes grace and understated luxury.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the dress drapes with an air of weightless elegance, its flowing silhouette mirroring the airy movement that defined many of Dior’s most iconic designs. The house’s philosophy "My greatest dream is to make women happier and even more beautiful", is woven into every fiber of this exquisite creation. True to Dior’s unwavering admiration for flowers, the dress is adorned with delicate smocking, each intricate rosebud embroidery a nod to the maison’s eternal love affair with florals.
Bows, gracefully intertwined within the smocking, serve as an elegant signature, reminiscent of Dior’s dedication to the art of embellishment and femininity. Every seam, every stitch, and every delicate touch pay tribute to the couture ateliers that have, for decades, turned dreams into tangible expressions of beauty. As plans unfold for a visit to the Galerie Dior in Paris this year, this dress becomes more than a garment, it is a prelude to the magic of haute couture and the timeless heritage that continues to inspire.
A Celebration in the Spirit of Parisian Elegance
While Madison’s dress stands as the centerpiece of the occasion, the celebration itself is a symphony of refined details, each inspired by the grandeur of Dior’s Parisian world. The party is set to be a soirée of sophistication, blending classic French influences with modern touches. From hand-curated floral arrangements reminiscent of the grand salons of Avenue Montaigne to a menu that delights with Parisian delicacies, every moment will embody the effortless chic that defines the maison.
This birthday is more than an event, it is a reflection of art, style, and the joy of beautiful moments shared. I am forever grateful to Monique and Charlotte of Charlotte Sy Dimby for giving us this incredible opportunity to explore and learn about fashion in such a behind the scenes way. Over the last week my heart has been broken by the news of the Fires in Los Angeles. Having gone to USC for four years and living in Santa Monica after school, I felt compelled to get to work to help as many people as possible. While I knew I could only make a small dent in bringing light during such darkness, I felt in my heart of hearts that action was better than anguish and there is still so much to be done. All commissions from this Valentine’s Day Edition will be donated directly to the LAFD Foundation to thank all of the wonderful men and women (including my cousin!) who put their lives on the line to run into the fires and protect CA. Sending you all so much love! ❤️
A Polar Express Themed Birthday Extravaganza
Max’s Polar Express-themed birthday party was filled with festive fun, heartwarming traditions, and a few exciting new additions this year! From the Build Your Own Bear experience by Tanner Haus to the trackless train and delicious treats from Benedict’s Catering, every moment was magical. We kept the spirit of the Polar Express alive with hot cocoa stations, gingerbread house decorating, and a candy bar that kept everyone fueled for the fun. Read on for a recap of all the highlights, including the perfect balance of sweet and savory snacks that made Max's birthday unforgettable!
As the year draws to a close, we couldn’t help but reflect on Max’s special day—his birthday is always such a joyful event that we cherish. Sharing his birthday around Christmas is truly magical, and every year we try to make it even more special. Since Max was born near the holiday season, we’ve embraced the festive spirit, and we love celebrating his big day with loved ones. Max always reminds us of how lucky he is to have his birthday so close to Christmas, and we couldn’t agree more!
This year’s celebration was a continuation of the Polar Express theme that began with his first birthday. The party was filled with the same magic and warmth that we’ve come to expect, except for one exciting new twist: instead of the snow globe experience, we introduced a Build Your Own Bear station from Tanner Haus! It was such a fun and memorable addition, allowing the children to create their own furry friends. The excitement was palpable as they picked out their bear skins, stuffed them, and added accessories, making each creation truly their own.
The party featured an incredible inflatable play area decked out with holiday-themed designs, from colorful slides to candy-cane obstacles and Christmas decor. It added an extra layer of excitement for the kids, perfectly complementing the Polar Express atmosphere and making the celebration a memorable experience for everyone.
As always, we had a hot cocoa station to stay in line with the Polar Express theme. Guests enjoyed all the fixings, with whipped cream, marshmallows, and a variety of toppings to make their drinks as festive as they liked.
Of course, no Polar Express party would be complete without the trackless train! This year, the train was electric, quiet, and exhaust-free, which made for a more pleasant experience for everyone, especially the little ones who loved riding it again. Max was worried that the older kids might not want to ride this year, but it turned out that everyone, big and small, had a blast!
Another tradition we kept this year was decorating Gingerbread Houses. With almost 60 children and their siblings in attendance, we opted for family-style houses this time. The premade gingerbread kits from Target made things easier, and I used a frosting recipe I found from Courtney Whitmore at Pizzazzerie to label the houses. It took quite a bit of work, seven batches of frosting and a couple of hours—but it was well worth it. The kids had so much fun adding candy to their houses and showing off their creations.
One of the highlights of the party was the candy bar, complete with cute signage from Michael’s. It was a big hit, and I think the sugar rush lasted well into the evening! In addition to the sweet treats, we also had a refreshing drink and savory potato snacks that were perfect for guests to snack on throughout the party. The mix of sweet and savory offerings kept everyone satisfied and energized for all the fun activities!
The balloons, of course, were as festive as ever! Balloon Babe of Arizona worked her magic, creating whimsical Christmas-themed balloons that decorated the venue inside and out. The fun balloon installations added such a vibrant touch to the party and helped create a warm, festive atmosphere.
The cake from Jewels Bakery was absolutely spectacular! Gluten and dairy-free, yet it tasted just as delicious as it looked. The cake was the perfect mix of fun and flavor, and it was the perfect way to cap off such a magical day!
And last but certainly not least, As always, the catering was top-notch, thanks to Benedict’s Catering. The spread was delicious and included a variety of options for both kids and adults. Since the party was after school, we featured gluten-free grilled cheese sandwiches, hamburgers, and chicken salad for the parents, perfect for recharging after all the fun!
Special Thanks to Our Incredible Vendors:
Catering: Benedict’s Catering

GF Bakery: Jewels Bakery
Balloons: Balloon Babe
Bear Experience: Tanner Haus
It was another year of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. But hands down, the most enchanting part of this year’s celebration was the Build Your Own Bear station, which took over the role that the snow globe had last year. The children were absolutely delighted with the opportunity to craft their own bears, and it was wonderful to see them so engaged in the experience.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Max’s Polar Express-themed birthday party so magical! Here's to many more birthdays filled with love and fun!

Macaron Taste Test: Pierre Hermé vs. Ladurée
When it comes to Parisian macarons, two names stand out: Pierre Hermé and Ladurée. Both are renowned for their exquisite, melt-in-your-mouth creations, but each has its unique approach to flavor and texture.
Pierre Hermé
Known for pushing the boundaries of traditional French patisserie, Pierre Hermé offers innovative macaron flavors that blend bold and unexpected ingredients. With combinations like Ispahan (rose, lychee, and raspberry) or Olive Oil and Vanilla, Pierre Hermé’s macarons are a sensory adventure. The texture is delicately crisp on the outside, with a soft, luxurious filling that delivers a more contemporary, adventurous experience.
Ladurée
A symbol of classic French elegance, Ladurée is the go-to for those who seek traditional flavors with impeccable craftsmanship. The macarons here are perfectly balanced, with flavors like salted caramel, pistachio, and raspberry standing the test of time. The shells are slightly thicker than those of Pierre Hermé, and the fillings are smooth and creamy, offering a more classic, refined macaron experience.
The Verdict
For those who love exploring bold new flavors, Pierre Hermé offers a modern twist on the macaron, while Ladurée remains the go-to for anyone who craves the timeless, refined taste of a traditional French macaron. Both are exceptional, but your preference depends on whether you lean towards innovation or tradition!

Once the hub of artists like Picasso and Van Gogh, it’s filled with narrow cobblestone streets, charming cafés, and stunning views of the city. Visit the iconic Sacré-Cœur Basilica, stroll through Place du Tertre where local artists display their work, and explore the lively atmosphere that makes Montmartre a must-see destination for any visitor to Paris.
Go to the Top of the Eiffel Tower
For unparalleled views of Paris, a visit to the top of the Eiffel Tower is a must. The observation decks offer a unique perspective of Paris, making it one of the most iconic experiences for visitors. Whether during the day or at night, the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower is unforgettable.
Paris any Beyond Tours
Paris any Beyond Tours is one of the things I would highly recommend if you are traveling to Paris, especially with children. One thing that I took for granted is the thought that all tour guides can engage children and find ways to make history and culture fascinating. Well that assumption was incorrect. Our children absolutely enjoyed our tours with Ferit who thought of every detail to make art fun and history memorable. From going out of his way to bring hot chocolate on the car ride to Versailles, to bringing pads of paper for them to recreate their own Monet’s, Ferit made them fall in love with the Musee de Orsay and made Versailles so approachable and fun. The one day we left the hotel in charge of the guide, the children were so disappointed and we found the guide difficult to understand and not engaging with the children. After that experience our three kiddos were sure to let us know that “Ferit was their favorite tour guide of all time and that we were only going with him in the future!” I myself even texted him for more information about the Louvre as he has the most incredible details that go above and beyond simply describing what is in front of you. Be sure to ask him about the Winged Victory at the Louvre. Absolutely fascinating backstory that makes you on the edge of your seat craving more time to learn from him. I wholeheartedly cannot recommend Paris and Beyond more! The best experience that’s leaves us all excited to head back to Paris!

Travel Essentials Spotlight
Travel Must Have's for the airplane and beyond. All of the the essentials that I have in my suitcase.
Hello from 40,000 feet! I’m writing this as we are flying across the Pond to London, and I can tell you that having just packed for five people, I thought this was the best time to do a deep dive on my Travel Essentials. This covers everything you need for packing, on the airplane and once you arrive. I will call out a few items from each category that truly stand out to me.
One is my White and Warren travel wrap that has been on every international flight with me since around 2010! Love! And as a fan of compression on airplanes, but unable to handle the feeling of compression socks, the Vim and Vigo Compression tights have been a game changer for me! I love the feeling and wouldn’t do a long haul flight without them.
Next would be my EO hand sanitizer and wipes as I make the children wipe down their airplane seats before we take off and use them throughout the flight. I will add that oversized toilet seat covers for little girls also come in handy!
The AirFly connectors are a way to make your Bluetooth headphones work with any airplane seat television and spare you from the headphones that are handed out.
I never travel without my portable steamer that changes voltages based on what country you are in! On that note I might add that I was traumatized in eight grade when I had a class trip to Australia and a friend of mine burned off a large chunk of her hair with a curling iron that was plugged into a converter. To this day I will not use a hair styling tool that is not the proper voltage of the country I am in. One of my best moves ever was to buy a European Dyson Air Wrap on eBay and I use it with all of my accessories. This is now my 3rd international trip with it and I’m thrilled!
When it comes to luggage in our family, we all have a preference. I am a Tumi girl for life and love the quality and the quantity that I can fit in a bag! For our children I absolutely love AWAY bags. They are so resilient, hold a lot and are very lightweight! Would probably be my top suggestion for someone looking for new luggage. And my husband absolutely loves the style and function of FPM Milano bags. He had a Rimowa aluminum bag that he loved, but it got so banged up on the last trip it was not repairable. Enter FPM Milano with a similar style, but with reinforced corners. The jury is still out on how they will stand the test of time.
A quick side note about the two membership programs. Clear Plus gets you to your gate faster bypassing most lines and is even quicker and easier than TSA Pre. I do want to mention that your children 17 and under are complimentary and can join you in the Clear lane.
Global Entry on the other hand requires an application and is necessary for ALL members of your party to use the Global Entry kiosks upon entry to the US. I do highly recommend this if you travel internationally on a frequent basis with your children.
I have included some of my packing lists that I use to be sure I have everything needed for me, my three children and husband. I hope this has been helpful and I wish you happy packing and Bon Voyage for wherever your next journey takes you!
The Low Down: Featuring Jennifer Sumko, A Creative Genius Merging Fashion, Interiors and Authenticity
A Low Down Interview with Jennifer Sumko.
I am excited to bring back the second season of The Low Down and am beyond delighted to present Jennifer Sumko. When I think of the ultimate example of inner and outer beauty, I think of Jennifer. When we first met I was taken back at how incredibly warm and genuine she is towards everyone and her statuesque beauty radiates through everything she does! With an early love of fashion, it is easy to see how she has navigated the production of not one, but two incredible capsule collections for Dillards with Antonio Melani. The best part is that her accolades do not stop there. She is truly a creative visionary who also is an interior design genius. The most impressive thing in my opinion is that she is so authentic and her greatest passion is her family. Not only is she a present mother and wife, but she does it all gracefully while juggling an incredible career. I also would love to highlight that she is a champion of lifting up other women. I have found her advice to not only be inspiring, but you feel like she is one of your biggest cheerleaders. She is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met and I feel honored to call her a friend. Welcome, Jennifer!
1. Please tell me a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, where did you go to college and what did you see yourself becoming when you were younger.
My name is Jennifer Sumko. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born and raised I attended the University of Utah with and studied communications and marketing. When I was younger I had many different interests…still do. I think it is a blessing and a curse. I have always loved fashion. I grew up in a home that valued faith, family, friendships, and beauty. This has impacted many of my decisions in my life and career. A dream of mine would have always included a combination of anything creative with a sound voice of being true to who I am. I love design in any form. I have dabbled in photography. taught myself to sew in my late twenties, and love to dabble in interiors with a focus on wallpapers and textiles.
My background in interiors really started young as I was surrounded by a Mother who had a deep love of design and a beautiful layered aesthetic. I have always been drawn to interiors partly because of a deep sense of loving home. I think fashion and interiors really marry well. I have always had a deep passion for clothing/style.
2. How did you come up with idea of Jennifer Sumko Interiors? Did you always want to branch into fashion and how did the collaboration with Dillards happen? Where do you see your brand in another 5 years?
My collaboration with Dillard’s was an incredibly and organic journey that found me….and I found a couple of years ago. It started from social media with a conversation that led to an incredible opportunity to create two collections with the amazing Antonio Melani team. Truly it has been a dream collaborationscome true. I love the Dillard’s brand and everything about the quality that they are focused keenly on. I have met the most incredible people through this experience as well which has been such a highlight.
3. Who has inspired you most and why?
I think my parents. Both of them actually. They were both committed to faith and family anreally taught and loved each of their children beautifully. They were both involved in community and found joy in just being really kind people. They were successful in every thing they did….because of how they measured success. It was always about people…not things for them.
4. What is the best piece of advice you were given? Regarding anything from business to parenting to personal development, etc.?
The best piece of advice is…..small and simple. Take small and simple steps every day to make your dreams come true. Dream big….but it’s all the little things that make the big ones happen. Every failure is a learning and not actually failure.
5. What advice would you give to other women who are running a business and raising children?
Offer yourself grace. Be as kind to yourself as you would be to others. Life is unexpectedespecially with children. Learning to be flexible is helpful and important. Listen to your inner voice and put your blinders on.
6. Is there anything you wish someone had told you along the way?
I think people always tell you life goes really fast. But you don’t always believe them because the days can seem long at times especially with little children. BUT….the time goes really fast.
7. What does work/life balance look like for you?
Work and balance is definitely a tricky balance. I really try to get a lot of work done when my kids are not home and at school….or late at nights when they are sleeping. I think setting boundaries is important. Whether its setting a timer on your phone, or sticking to set goals with family……both I have found to be helpful. But again…knowing that there is no such thing as the perfect balance is most helpful. Letting go of perfectionist views helps me the most when it comes to many things.
8. What are some of your favorite traditions and do you place a priority on certain things?
A favorite tradition recently I have started over the past few years….is taking trips one on one or different outings with individual children. It is amazing to have that special one on one time with each of your children. You really get to know them in a different way and create some really special memories. It doesn’t have to be a big trip…but just some time away individually with each child.
9. How, if ever, do you prioritize your well-being? What are some things that you try to squeeze in on a normal busy day that you feel has impacted your day-to-day life?
I definitely try to find something I can do to be active every single day. And I definitely taketime for meditation/prayer every single day. I don’t know what I would do without either of those things actually. I also love a bit of Vitamin D ……I guess that is partly why I live here in Arizona.
10. What adversity has challenged you the most, yet made you a stronger person?
I feel like we all have adversity. Supporting my husband through medical school starting at age 29 while having four children simultaneously was definitely a time when I/we faced adversity. Not enough hours in the day….exhaustion, financial burdens….etc. really pushed us. I would never have traded the experiences…because when we do hard things our muscles really do become stronger in every way.
11. You meet so many inspiring women every day, how do you feel we can better support the motto of “Women helping Women?”
There are so many ways we can support other women beautifully. I think it starts with understanding that everyone has something to offer and genuinely appreciating other women. We can support by being genuinely kind, interested, and more thoughtful. Even just a simple text, or a smile, or thought of goodness can spread to others. Be kind and support others without an expectation of return. I have had beautiful women examples of this in my life….and it’s a favorite quality you can almost sense immediately in someone.
12. How would you describe your sense of style?
My sense of style….if feminine, classic, and bit of whimsical/eclectic in nature. I love things not quite perfect…because its freeing to me. I can’t feel “too buttoned up” or I feel it thwarts my creative. I always love to feel feminine ….and I love to dress up.
13. What is your favorite splurge or investment “High Bar” piece in your wardrobe?
My favorite splurge item would be probably a pair of Fendi boots I splurged on a few years back. It was an impulsive and somewhat impractical purchase at the time…they are my favorite. I bought them on a special trip…and I am a very nostalgic person…so that might be part of it as well.
14. What is your favorite trendy yet affordable “Side Bar” piece in your wardrobe?
My favorite side bar and affordable pieces are honestly from my fall collection this year. If I could be a jacket…..I really think I would be the Isabella Jacket. A beautiful tweed, quilted, puff sleeve jacket with ties. It is comfortable…so well made….and such a great value piece.
15. What is one thing on your wish list for 2025?
Organizing my “closets” at home and finishing a few house projects I have been plotting and planning for what seems like years.: )
